    Speaker's note: Aged 38 from Balgedie, Kinrossshire (now Perth and Kinross), Scotland. Born 3 July 1889 in Balgedie. Lived in Balgedie until the age of four when he moved to Methil. Educated at Public school in Methil. In the army since the age of 20. Father from Kinross-shire, mother from Fifeshire. Can read and write in English and Scottish. Religion: Protestant. Occupation: ploughman. Item note: Thomas reads the Parable of the Prodigal Son (taken from Luke chapter XV, verse 11-32).
