    Speaker's note: Aged 21 from Beverley, Yorkshire, England. Born 21 March 1894 in Beverley. Lived in Beverley until the age of 22 when he joined the army. Educated at a elementary school in Beverly. Both parents from Beverley (father was a labourer in the town). Can read and write in English. Religion: protestant. Occupation: farmer. Item note: Harry reads the Parable of the Prodigal Son (taken from Luke chapter XV, verse 11-32).

Via Facebook: "My grandfather spoke with a strong Leicestershire accent but could apparently tell the difference between accents from the surrounding villages which were only miles apart".

Via Facebook "When my grandfather (from Fulham) joined the army in 1909, he went to the depot in Warrington where he was supposed to be met. No one was there, so he asked the locals for directions, but they were mutally incomprehensible!"
