Abstract
Part 21. Looks at shapes in nature. Degree of narrative in Anthony Fry’s [AF] work but not a narrative painter. Need to travel, loves shock of unfamiliar images. Recurring images, eg the nude. Needs warm temperature to paint. Enjoys European landscapes south of Massif Centrale. AF and India, details. Didn’t have contacts but met American sculptor, Michael Prentis, in India, details. Tamil masons. First work space in India, details. Cannot draw outside in India because would attract a crowd. Death of son of owner of AF’s studio and how this affected AF on his last trip to India. Visit to AF’s cousin’s plantation in hills; death of young mother, buried by lake in forest - AF finds this a strong image, had painted it several times.
