    Part 7: Tape 4 (F10718) Side A: Initially missing first choice of being in London but eventually being offered a place at Hammersmith to study Foundation Art- Experiencing big culture gap even with a shared language- Other students having little interest at this time in his own background- Surprise at form of induction for foreign students where Friday night was bath night- Enjoyment of liberal discursive approach at college- Doing well primary concern, not enjoyment- Pleasure at new found success- Lecturers pulling him in different directions, finally choosing graphics- Applying for London College of Printing and getting place- Getting a Thames TV Bursary award at LCP- Going back to adolescence- No discussion of sexuality with Chinese parents- Some information from peers as well as basic outline at school- Segregation from girls school- Going to mixed private school for sixth form where a ban on going out with girl fellow pupils was in place- Being seen as the little brother by sister's friends- Hearing stories about a neighbour's daughter and one of his brothers in the innocent version as a young man, only hearing the full story recently- Tells anecdote about his first girlfriend and her complicated background- Living together for twenty years- Visiting KL relatively regularly particularly as mother approached end of her life- Explaining Foundation Course and its covering photography, painting, 3D and graphics- On being more design oriented than art oriented-
