Short description:

Recordings in this collection can be played by anyone.

Recordings in this collection are from An Oral History of British Fashion, a project run by National Life Stories (in partnership with the British Library) and the London College of Fashion between 2003 and 2006. The collection includes a selection of the 18 interviews conducted with people whose lives have been spent in the fashion industry, including Percy Savage, fashion publicist and designer, and Lily Silberberg, a former pupil of Barrett Street Needle Trade School and a teacher at London College of Fashion.

Oral history recordings provide valuable first-hand testimony of the past.  The views and opinions expressed in oral history interviews are those of the interviewees, who describe events from their own perspective.  The interviews are historical documents and their language, tone and content might in some cases reflect attitudes that could cause offence in today’s society.
