  • Abstract

    Part 3: They had to have study areas so single rooms in the dormitories. Talks about relaxed atmosphere in her part of the RAF. Christmas duties. More jobsworth were the NCOs. Used to go to pubs in Wendover in leisure time as well as walking in the Chilterns among other things. Describes a holiday in Germany. [21:48] Final exams at High Wycombe hospital. Used to practise on each other in the nursing school. Cynthia met John through a colleagues pen pal arrangement and a party. He later bought himself out of the army and went back to Dagenham. When they married he moved up to Leicester due to cost of housing. Married in December 1966. He got a job in a couple of engineering companies then in textiles. First home was a flat on the Uppingham Road. Then a one bed council flat in a tower block on the same estate they live now. Their daughter was born and they moved a year later to their current house. Tower blocks were demolished a few years ago describes watching them going down.
