  • Description

Bake India I No.10 (i.e. recorded on field trip of 1931) "Mīnākṣi me mudaṁ dehi". A kṛtī by Muthuswami Dikshitar in raga Gamakakriyam, tala Adi; sung by Savitri Govind, an eighteen year old female from South India belonging to the Brahmin caste who studied at Tagore's Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan at that time. This South Indian composition inspired Tagore to write his song "Bāsantī he bhuvanamohinī". Reasonable quality recording.
