The audio recordings were made by Kennedy in conjunction with a video on the songs and work practices in the quarry, titled 'Quarrymen's Work Songs'. It was released in 1953 and re-released with new material in 1983.

This is an actuality recording made by Kennedy in the Portland stone quarry. It includes a number of work songs accompanied by sounds of work being done. The recording includes sections of ambient sound.
