    Rycroft explains that the following musical examples are extracts from his field recordings of certain traditional Zulu songs on which the five movements of his brass suite are based. The items were recorded in 1964 at Princess Magogo and Chief Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi's home of KwaPhindangene.
